Trump says he doesn’t think US was responsible for fatal strike on Iranian school

President Donald Trump told reporters that he does not believe the United States will be liable for a missile that landed on an Iranian school this spring, killing hundreds of school children.

Trump has previously denied that an American missile struck the school, and a U.S. Central Command spokesperson confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Monday that the investigation into the strike is still ongoing.

Reporters reraised the subject during the president’s Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, prompting the president to claim that he doesn’t “know that they’re ever going to solve that problem.”

“It’s horrible what happened, but there were missiles flying all over the place, and somebody said it was our missile. Well, maybe it wasn’t our missile,” Trump continued. “But I’ve seen nothing to lead me to believe it was. There were plenty of missiles being flown by other people.”

War Secretary Pete Hegseth added that the Pentagon has “taken the investigation very seriously” and will release the findings at the “appropriate time.”

“I don’t. I don’t think it’s going to be us,” Trump added when reporters asked if the Pentagon had already made any determinations. “I don’t think it was us. There were a lot of missiles being fired at that time.”
