President Donald Trump said he was suing ABC over its “false” reporting on the alleged vandalism of the newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
In a post on Truth Social, the president let loose on ABC News over its coverage of the drama over the Reflecting Pool and its renovation, believing the coverage was egregious enough to deserve a lawsuit, which comes after Trump accused ABC reporter Jonathan Karl of trying to rip up the pool’s rubber surface last week.
“In describing the Vandalism that took place at the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., ABC FAKE NEWS, one of the worst in the business, even paying me $16,000,000 for past bad and inaccurate reporting, failed to report that their close ‘friends,’ Dumocrats Obama and Biden, spent over 100 Million Dollars on the Reflecting Pool, and it never worked. In fact, it was rarely open due to leaks and ‘stench,’” Trump wrote Monday evening.
He claimed that former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden wanted to spend $300 million to $400 million, “but just let it ROT.”
“I spent approximately 16 Million Dollars, and it came out great, except for the Vandalism, which we are now fixing. It was also a much bigger job than originally envisioned, including the outer areas and sidewalks,” Trump said.

“We are preparing lawsuits against ABC for false reporting. I like their money, which will be given to the U.S. Treasury!” he concluded.
The once-quiet Reflecting Pool has become one of the most closely watched bodies of water in the U.S. after Trump ordered a multimillion-dollar renovation job on the pool. The refurbished memorial showed signs of damage or deterioration just days after it was unveiled, triggering competing accusations of vandalism or a poor job by contractors.
