USPS marks 250 years with Ralph Lauren-curated ‘American Icons’ stamps

The U.S. Postal Service is celebrating America how they know best – creating a series of stamps to mark the nation’s history ahead of America 250.

The stamps were curated by designer Ralph Lauren. Lauren selected 13 photos from his collection that reflected the country’s values, such as freedom, opportunity, and independence, according to a press release.

A dedication ceremony took place at the James A. Farley Post Office Building in New York City.

The 2026 U.S. flag stamp for mailing features a detailed photo of an American flag, taken from Lauren’s iconic flag sweater.

The entire stamp collection contains 13 stamps. Twelve of the stamps include the “American Icons” title and “FOREVER,” and “USA” in white text in the upper left or right corners.

A 13th stamp shows the knit flag designed by Lauren with text reading, “1776 to 2026,” along with the “American Icons” title and “FOREVER” and “USA” text in gold.

Award-winning journalist Katie Couric attended the event. She said the event reminds us of the fabric of the United States.

“It is a profound privilege to help unveil a collection, designed by the iconic Ralph Lauren that honors the American spirit so beautifully as we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary,” Couric said.

A commemorative capsule collection can be purchased at Ralph Lauren in select stores and online. The stamps will be available at Post Offices nationwide.
