Newsom slams MAGA for its ‘melt down’ over Pride Month

.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) lashed out at Republicans for their negative reactions to the start of Pride Month.

“It’s amazing watching MAGA melt down over Pride Month. We’re genuinely sorry your life is this miserable. Try loving gay people. The vibes are better, the music is better, and everyone seems to be having fun,” Newsom’s press office posted on X.

June is the start of Pride Month, a celebration of the LGBT community. The beginning of the celebration sparked pushback from many Republicans.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) proclaimed June as “Fidelity Month.”

“Cultivating fidelity to God, family, community, and country contributes to human flourishing and supports a healthy, stable, well-ordered society,” she said in a press release.

In Tennessee, Republicans designated June 2026 as “Nuclear Family Month.” Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN) signed the bill in April.

Gov. Mike Braun (R-IN) did the same, posting on X, “I have seen firsthand the impact that loving, committed families can have across multiple generations.”

A Turning Point USA representative from Indiana posted a reaction to one of his own comments on a Kansas City Royals post celebrating Pride Month.

“Going to cancel my season tickets right now. Absolutely disgusting,” Nathan Roberts said.

Conservative author Megan Basham commented on Newsom’s post with photos of gay families, where children had multiple fathers.

“This doesn’t look fun to me. I don’t think the babies are having fun either. I think, like all babies, they want their mother,” Basham said.
