President Donald Trump demanded early Tuesday morning that legal cases against him filed in New York City, New York, be dismissed. The president requested a social media post to his Truth Social account shortly after midnight, citing claims by Michael Cohen, his former attorney, that he was “coerced” into testifying against Trump.
“When a Star Witness totally recants, and in every way reveals that he was pressured and coerced to give testimony, and when the Prosecutor admits that this Witness was the single reason that the case was brought, there was no other, how can that Case not be immediately dismissed?” Trump asked in his post.
“That is exactly what happened in the Democrat New York Attorney General and Manhattan District Attorney’s Hoaxes against me,” Trump said. “Michael Cohen has come out and unequivocally stated that the Radical Left Prosecutors, Tish James and Alvin Bragg, pressured and coerced him to testify against your favorite President, ME, when they made him the key player in their Political Witch Hunts.”
Earlier this year, in a post to his Substack, Cohen claimed that he was “compelled and coerced” by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James into testifying against Trump.
In “When Politics Blind Justice,” Cohen discussed the charges against Trump and his role in them. He explained, “how these cases are actually built, who they rely on, and what happens behind closed doors long before a jury ever hears a word.”
“My perspective is not theoretical,” Cohen said in the Substack essay. “It is lived. In 2023 and 2024, I testified in two trials in which President Donald J. Trump was the defendant.”
“In both trials, government lawyers made me the key witness,” he said.
“From the time I first began meeting with lawyers from the Manhattan DA’s Office and the New York Attorney General’s Office in connection with their investigations of President Trump, and through the trials themselves, I felt pressured and coerced to only provide information and testimony that would satisfy the government’s desire to build the cases against and secure a judgment and convictions against President Trump,” said Cohen.
“During my time with prosecutors, both in preparation for and during the trials, it was clear they were interested only in testimony from me that would enable them to convict President Trump,” Cohen said. “When my testimony was insufficient for a point the prosecution sought to make, prosecutors frequently asked inappropriate leading questions to elicit answers that supported their narrative.”
He explained that a similar situation occurred during his role as a witness in the case brought by James against Trump. Cohen again emphasized that he felt “compelled and coerced to deliver what they were seeking.”

“Letitia James and Alvin Bragg may not share the same office or political calendar, but they share the same playbook,” Cohen said. “Both used their platforms to elevate their profiles, to claim the mantle of the officials who ‘took down Trump.’ In doing so, they blurred the line between justice and politics; and in that blur, the credibility of both suffered.”
Trump cited Cohen’s claims and emphasized that because of them, the cases against him should be dismissed “once and for all,” and expressed his innocence against the charges and convictions against him.
“Now that his testimony is wiped away, and the unAmerican, Political Charade ‘Cases’ are even further discredited, they should be put out of their misery, and dismissed, once and for all,” Trump said. “Our Constitution, and the Rule of Law, demand immediate and swift dismissal, as well as for the Perpetrators of the Radical Left Lawfare and Weaponization to be held criminally responsible for their terrible misdeeds.”
