‘WITHDRAW YOUR FAKE STATEMENT,’ Trump tells Massie over old endorsement text

.

President Donald Trump again put Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on blast, this time for a misleading primary day text sent to Kentucky voters by the congressman’s campaign.

The text message featured Trump’s 2022 endorsement of Massie, making it seem as if the president supports the incumbent today when he actually backs primary opponent Ed Gallrein.

“Horrible Congressman Thomas Massie put out an old Endorsement, from many years ago, of him by me long before I found out that he was the Worst Congressman in the History of our Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday afternoon. “I endorsed Ed Gallrein, a true American Patriot, which Massie knows full well, so the statement that he put out is fraudulent, just like HE is fraudulent.”

“WITHDRAW YOUR FAKE STATEMENT, MASSIE, RIGHT NOW!” he concluded.

In a similar post an hour later, Trump urged voters to see through Massie’s “deception” and vote for Gallrein.

“Can you imagine ‘Congressman’ Thomas Massie putting out a many years ago Endorsement of him, by me, when he knows that he wasn’t endorsed, but that I proudly endorsed Ed Gallrein?” he wrote. “The reason is that Massie has turned out to be the Worst Congressman in the Republican Party. This shows what a totally dishonest and desperate guy Massie is, and I hope the Voters aren’t fooled by his deception!”

Massie’s campaign has not provided a statement to the Washington Examiner.

As of Tuesday afternoon, neither Massie nor his campaign has addressed Trump’s comments through their social media accounts.

Trump has repeatedly endorsed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL officer, to unseat Massie in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Even War Secretary Pete Hegseth stumped for Gallrein one day before the Republican primary.

In a rare appearance on Fox News earlier Tuesday, Massie claimed Trump and his allies are “panicked” that Gallrein may not be able to defeat him on Tuesday, because the president has posted 11 times about this race in the last 72 hours and sent Hegseth to campaign for Gallrein.

One of Trump’s recent Truth Social posts compared Massie to Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who lost his primary to two Republican challengers on Saturday. Hoping for a similar outcome in the Kentucky primary, the president said Massie was “worse” and an “even bigger insult to our Nation” than Cassidy.

Massie has drawn Trump’s ire for some time, especially after the Kentucky Republican led the charge to compel a full release of the Epstein files. The congressman has frequently opposed Trump’s agenda in Congress.

MASSIE CAMPAIGN SENDS MISLEADING TEXT IMPLYING TRUMP ENDORSEMENT

In the primary race, polling locations close at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Voters who are still in line at that time will be allowed to cast their ballots.

Recent polls show Gallrein with a slight lead, but the margin between them is too close to call. Earlier surveys had Massie in the lead, but his lead narrowed after Trump endorsed Gallrein earlier this year.
