Jeff Landry to Greenland children: ‘You can have all the chocolate chip cookies you can eat’

.

Gov. Jeff Landry’s (R-LA) “cookie diplomacy” sparked backlash online, with critics questioning President Donald Trump’s messaging abroad.

A bizarre interaction between Landry and Greenlandic children is drawing ridicule after a video appeared to show Trump allies attempting an awkward charm offensive during a visit connected to Trump’s renewed interest in Greenland.

An anti-Trump account called Republicans Against Trump circulated the clip on X on Tuesday that shows Landry speaking with local children in Greenland as part of a Trump-linked delegation. During the exchange, Landry tells the children that if they come to the Louisiana governor’s mansion, “You can have all the chocolate chip cookies you can eat.”

The remark immediately triggered confusion and mockery across social media, where critics blasted the interaction as creepy and pedophilic behavior while also adding memes of Jeffrey Epstein and Trump

“What the hell is this?” the post accompanying the video asked, a sentiment echoed by many users reacting to the clip.

The footage comes amid renewed discussion of Trump’s long-standing fascination with Greenland, which first became news in 2019 after reports surfaced that the president had floated purchasing the autonomous Danish territory.

European leaders and foreign policy analysts widely mocked the proposal at the time, though Trump has since defended the idea as strategically sound due to Greenland’s Arctic location and natural resources.
