Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) admitted she’s eyeing a bid to chair the Republican National Committee after the current chairman is done.
Luna has made her way into the spotlight in recent months and is now considering her next move for leadership in the Republican Party.
“I’ll be honest with you — I am considering, after Joe Gruters is done, maybe putting my hat in for the chair of the RNC,” Luna told Politico in an interview.
Joe Gruters, the current chairman of the RNC, was just elected last year and he can serve until the adjournment of the next presidential convention. Gruters could run for another term after his current one, which would further delay Luna’s bid.
“I think that it’s a shame that the Republican Party as a whole has leadership that is really shilling for corporations instead of worrying about the American people,” she said. “I think that needs to change at a national level.”
The Florida Republican has inserted herself into a string of high-profile fights since joining Congress in 2023. She pushed efforts to ban congressional stock trading, expand proxy voting for new parents, and teamed up with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to cap credit card interest rates at 10%.
While those efforts have not succeeded, Luna has scored some major wins this Congress. She was outspoken on the release of all documents and files pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein, despite initial opposition from President Donald Trump. Luna backed expelling former Reps. Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales over allegations of sexual misconduct.
Earlier this month, a rumor mill was sparked by a social media post that suggested Luna, who is only in her second term, could be eyeing a bid for House speaker.

But Luna quickly squashed that rumor.
“I am completely honored that so many people are asking me, floated me, or have said that I would be a great Speaker of the House,” Luna wrote on X. “Truly, it is wonderful and I am flattered to have that type of support and trust. However, I do not know where the rumor started that I was considering a run, as I have never spoken to any member about it or considered even running for Speaker.”
