Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) decided to end his primary campaign on a positive note, as he prepares for his staunchest electoral challenge so far.
After a slog of a campaign, weathering attacks from President Donald Trump, Massie, highly popular among his electorate, gave one final appeal. In a one-minute ad, the Kentucky Republican thanked his constituents for allowing him to represent them thus far, saying it has been the honor of a lifetime.
TRUMP ENDORSEMENT TRACKER: HERE’S WHO THE PRESIDENT HAS PICKED IN GOP MIDTERM ELECTION PRIMARIES
“Here’s my POSITIVE ad for the FINAL week. This one’s a minute long because I had too much to say to fit into thirty seconds! Let me know what you think,” he captioned the ad, along with a plea for donations.
“This is home. It always has been, and it always will be. It’s where I grew up. It’s where I met Rhonda,” he said, referring to his late wife as a montage of images showing him growing up flashed across the screen.
“There are little towns like this all over the district, and it’s an honor to be the one you’ve entrusted to fight for and represent you in Washington,” Massie continued.
After his extensive thanks, Massie switched gears to pitch for reelection, saying he was reinvigorated by new challenges.
“Our nation and Kentucky have enormous challenges and problems, but after every visit back home to Kentucky and talking with you and holding my grandchildren, I’m more renewed than ever to keep fighting,” he said. “I’m Thomas Massie, and I approve this message, and if you’d let me, I’d be humbled to have your vote and trust again to keep fighting for Kentucky.”
The ad was boosted by former Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has found herself in the same boat as former Republican allies of Trump who have earned his ire.
MASSIE SAYS HE ‘MAY LOSE’ PRIMARY DUE TO RIVAL’S PRO-ISRAEL CASH ADVANTAGE
“This ad shows the kind, humble, and thankful heart of Thomas Massie, the man he truly is. I cannot believe this is who Trump wants to take out more than any Democrat that tried to put him in jail the rest of his life,” she wrote in a post on X.
Massie is facing former Navy SEAL Capt. Ed Gallrein, who has Trump’s “complete and total endorsement.” The primary election is considered a toss-up.
