UnitedHealthcare fired an employee who expressed disappointment with the third assassination attempt against President Donald Trump over the weekend.
“Violence is never acceptable and any comments that suggest otherwise are in no way consistent with our mission and values,” the health insurance provider said in a statement on Tuesday. “The person who made comments online about Saturday night’s incident at a Washington event where President Trump and many other political leaders were gathered is no longer employed by the company.”
The organization did not name the terminated worker in its statement, but social media users indicate it was Alison King. The woman worked as a social media manager at UnitedHealthcare since July 2025, according to a screenshot of her LinkedIn profile.
UnitedHealth Group declined to confirm the identity of the newly fired employee in a statement to the Washington Examiner. A spokesperson noted there were senior team members from the company at the high-profile media event on Saturday.
In a video shared by Libs of TikTok and other social media accounts, the woman suggested the correspondents’ dinner incident may have been staged and appeared sad when the suspect didn’t carry out the shooting.
“You know we’re cooked as a country when my first reaction to hearing the news about Trump’s [assassination] attempt was — it was probably fake,” she said while filming herself. “Immediately, I was like, ‘Oh, that wasn’t real,’ probably fake.
“And the second was ‘Aww, they missed? So happy they missed,’” she added sarcastically. “Oh, yeah. That’s sad. That’s when you know we’re cooked.”
Her comments garnered much criticism online, with some social media users recalling how UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot by Luigi Mangione in December 2024.
The video caught the attention of Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who pressured the company to respond to the employee’s anti-Trump remarks.
“I’d love to hear how United Health Care plans to respond to the company’s social media manager mourning the fact that President Trump survived Saturday’s assassination attempt,” Lee posted on X late Monday. “[UnitedHealthcare], whats your reaction?” The company’s statement arrived less than 12 hours later.
DOJ RIPS A STRIP OF PRESERVATION GROUP OVER WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM LAWSUIT: ‘TDS’
Cole Allen, 31, was apprehended after attempting to rush into the Washington Hilton ballroom, where Trump was attending the White House Correspondents’ Association annual dinner alongside first lady Melania Trump, Cabinet officials, and members of the press and Congress. Allen was charged with attempting to assassinate the president and two firearm-related charges on Monday.
After the shooting, a UnitedHealth Group spokesperson said the company is opposed to violence, especially given Thompson’s murder over 16 months ago.
