Nicki Minaj to attend White House Correspondents’ Association dinner

Celebrity is coming back to Washington, D.C., for this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, as rapper Nicki Minaj will be attending the event.

While there are few details about Minaj’s appearance yet, Fox News confirmed to the Washington Examiner that she will attend the event as a guest of the media company.

Major news companies can purchase tables at the event and often invite celebrities and newsmakers to join them. CBS News faced backlash after reports that it invited War Secretary Pete Hegseth to join its table.

Minaj’s appearance Saturday night joins a star-studded list of celebrities who have previously attended the event at the Washington Hilton, including George Clooney, Kim Kardashian, and Martha Stewart.

Over the last year, Minaj has become an ally of President Donald Trump, frequently supporting him on social media and joining the president for speaking events.

Trump has publicly praised the rapper numerous times, with the president most recently calling her “beautiful” at a Black History Month event in Washington, D.C., in March.

“How about Nicki Minaj? Do we love Nicki Minaj? I love Nicki Minaj. She was here a couple weeks ago. She’s so beautiful,” Trump raved. “I said, ‘Nicki, you’re so beautiful.’ Her nails are like that long, I said, ‘Nicki, are they real?’ She didn’t want to get into that. But she was so beautiful and so great, and she gets it, more importantly.”

The rapper appeared with Trump for the first time in January at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., where she labeled herself as the “president’s No. 1 fan, while standing next to him.

The White House Correspondents’ Association holds its annual dinner honoring the journalists who cover the White House and celebrate the freedom of the press.

THE PRESS DECLARE WAR ON TRUMP AT THE WHCA DINNER

In prior years, presidents were subject to roast-style jokes by a comedian, but this year, the dinner is taking a different direction, with Mentalist Oz Pearlman as the featured entertainer. The president traditionally also gives a comedic routine, making jokes about themselves, politics, and the press.

Trump will be attending this year’s event for the first time as president, breaking his boycott of the gala since he last attended in 2015 as a guest.
