New York City crime part of ‘promises broken’ by Mamdani: Joe Concha

.

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s silence on crime and called it “Third-world stuff right here in New York City.”

“Rampant crime is inescapable from the smell of weed in this city,” Concha said on Fox Business’s Varney & Co.

Mamdani’s lack of public response to crime has fueled growing concern as street takeovers and drag racing have escalated nationwide. In Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser reinstated youth curfews after “teen takeovers.”

Concha slammed Mamdani for failing to support the New York Police Department in its crime efforts and sharply criticized his stance on the agency. Concha referred to a post Mamdani wrote on X in 2020.

“We don’t need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-queer & a major threat to public safety,” Mamdani said.

Concha argued that high taxes in the city don’t offset the crime.

“Zohran Mamdani has been silent. Maybe he lost his voice from bragging about raising taxes so much,” Concha said.

He also argued that New Yorkers are seeing “buyer’s remorse around this mayor.”

“Taxes go up, yet there’s a negative return on that investment,” Concha said. “Mamdani should be condemning this.”

“Promises were made by Mamdani, big ones, promises broken.”
