Washington Examiner columnist Guy Benson praised a potential church revival among young Americans, calling it “healthy and good” on Fox News.
Benson appeared as a guest on the show on Friday, where host Greg Gutfeld said young men may be seeking a higher power simply because they are human, and “hoping beats moping.”
Benson joked about a hypothetical response President Donald Trump might give if ever asked about a revival.
“I can imagine the president being asked about this and him saying something like, ‘We love church, we frankly love more church, but it depends on [the] church, not to name names but it rhymes with Pope.’”
Benson then shared his own opinion, stating, “I don’t want to belittle what could be a real revival among a lot of younger Americans. I think that’s healthy and good. I am a little worried that it’s only the guys though, because you need a balance in society.”
“If Sunday mornings roll around and if the young men are going to church and the young women are going to their church, which is SoulCycle and a No Kings protest, we might have a procreation problem for decades to come,” he said.
Comedian David Angelo called it “salvation maxing.”
“Jesus is obviously a great influencer. Early 30’s, he has abs, it’s a natural fit. You can see why he’s doing well with the community,” Angelo said.
Political commentator Debra Lea chimed in, saying that religious institutions are a place where men are told they can be manly, and that the women there are normal too, so it’s a good place to find connection.

“Men search for meaning. Every person in life is trying to find some purpose, and for the last couple years they’ve [men] been told to be embarrassed about their identity, be embarrassed by who they are, all these identity politics,” Lea said.
Fox News contributor Kat Timpf agreed that this is a healthy trend, since it means young people are getting out of their house, talking to other people, “and not their phones.”
