Trader Joe’s to pay out $7.4 million lawsuit: Are you eligible for a payout?

.

Trader Joe’s is paying out a $7.4 million settlement as part of a class-action lawsuit for customers who made purchases with a credit or debit card in 2019.

The lawsuit, Keim v. Trader Joe’s, alleges the company put customer security at risk at some of its stores between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, according to the settlement’s website.

The website states printed receipts at some of Trader Joe’s stores showed the first six and the last four digits of credit and debit card numbers.

Court documents state, “Stores printed point-of-sale transaction receipts that revealed ten digits of its customers’ debit and credit card numbers, in willful violation of their FACTA rights. Like speed limits, seatbelt laws, and food-safety laws, FACTA exists to protect the public against the risk of harm caused.”

Plaintiff Brian Keim said this case took seven years

Affected customers must file a claim by June 9. The final approval hearing for the lawsuit is August 10.
