The GOP is holding a press conference with Republican congressional leadership on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The briefing comes as the Department of Homeland Security shutdown continues. Democrats have proposed a deal to fund most of DHS, excluding funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but it has failed to gain bipartisan support.
FOUR POSSIBLE OBSTACLES TO A SECOND RECONCILIATION BILL
Republicans face an uphill battle to get a second reconciliation bill passed before the midterm elections. The GOP has been considering what to include in a second tax and spending bill, including whether to include elements of the SAVE Act that President Donald Trump wants to see passed in the party-line budget bill.
At the same time, the war in Iran continues to wage on as Trump has deployed additional U.S. troops to the Middle East amid unclear peace negotiations with Tehran.
