President Donald Trump may not be attending the 2026 Super Bowl, but he will be partaking in NBC News’s pre-game interview.
Portions of Trump’s interview will air at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with another portion airing shortly before kickoff on Sunday. This marks the first sit-down interview with Trump for network anchor Tom Llamas, since he became anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News last year.
Notably, Trump’s agreement to this interview with NBC News comes eight years after he declined to do a pre-kickoff Super Bowl interview. NBC News is one of several networks Trump has feuded with as a politician.

NBC News is airing the Super Bowl this year and also conducted an interview with former President Joe Biden when the network hosted the game in 2022. This was the last pre-Super Bowl interview Biden did while in office, turning down interviews thereafter.
Trump offered to do a sit-down interview with CBS News after Biden bowed out in 2024.
Trump’s pre-game interview will be the closest appearance he will make at the Super Bowl, as he is not attending this year’s game in person. Trump cited the musical performances by Bad Bunny and Green Day for why he won’t attend.
NFL SAYS THERE ARE ‘NO PLANNED ICE’ OPERATIONS FOR THE SUPER BOWL
Bad Bunny made headlines on Sunday when he called “ICE out” at the Grammy Awards, referring to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Monday the musician understands that his halftime performance platform is “used to unite people.”
Kickoff between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8.
