Nicki Minaj says hate for her Trump fandom makes her ‘support him more’

.

Rapper Nicki Minaj received praise online Wednesday following her pledge to support President Donald Trump and the Trump accounts.

Minaj, whose legal name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, was onstage with Trump at the Carnegie Mellon Auditorium in the District of Columbia for an event dedicated to Trump accounts. These accounts are tax-deferred retirement accounts with initial $1,000 seed contributions for children born between Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2028.

“I don’t know what to say, but I will say that I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan, and that’s not going to change,” Minaj said.

“The hate or whatever people have to say — it does not affect me at all,” she said. “It actually motivates me to support him more, and it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more.”

“We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him, and you know, the smear campaigns, it’s not going to work, OK? He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him.”

Others online heaped compliments on Minaj for doubling down in her support. Activist Riley Gaines shared a clip from Minaj’s comments on X Wednesday.

“Yes. This. They can’t cancel you if you don’t allow them to,” Gaines captioned the video.

“Queen s*** right here! Love @NICKIMINAJ,” former congressman George Santos wrote on X Wednesday.

While Minaj stood resolutely on her politics, critics also dug their heels in, attacking Minaj. The official Democratic Party account issued a statement on Minaj Wednesday.

“Her husband is a registered sex offender btw,” the account wrote in response to a White House post about Minaj.

This, in reference to Kenneth Petty, who pleaded guilty to attempted rape at the age of 16 and served four years in prison in the late 1990s. As a result, Petty is on the sex offender registry in New York. Petty has been married to Minaj since 2019, and the pair share one son together.

Petty was not present Wednesday as Minaj sat between Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz. Minaj has been seen with Bruesewitz on several occasions since her public support for Trump’s policies.

Minaj pledged “hundreds of thousands” of dollars toward the Trump accounts, citing her son, whom she shares with Petty, as her inspiration.
