President Donald Trump has announced the United States is looking to host World Expo 2035 in Florida, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio appointed to lead the effort.

“The Great State of Florida has expressed strong interest in hosting the Expo in Miami, which I fully support. Miami Expo 2035 can be the next big milestone in our new Golden Age of America,” Trump said on Truth Social Thursday afternoon after leaving the World Economic Forum summit in Davos, Switzerland.

“I am appointing Miami native Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Chair the efforts of coordinating and advancing this exciting opportunity to convene the World,” he added, listing the benefits of such a proposal. “We will create thousands of jobs, and add Billions of Dollars in GROWTH, to our Economy.”

Rubio has not publicly commented on the appointment yet, but social media posts abounded at the news about the secretary getting another job.

Rubio has held multiple posts simultaneously, including a brief tenure as acting head of the U.S. Agency for International Development. He continues serving as acting national security adviser and acting archivist in addition to his diplomatic duties as the State Department head.

Trump went on to tout his efforts in bringing the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Summer Olympics to the U.S. He also expressed anticipation for hosting the country’s semiquincentennial and the G20 summit this year, as well as the G7 summit in 2027.
