Elon Musk donated $10 million to a pro-Trump Republican candidate to succeed incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in 2026.
The hefty donation signals that the billionaire is ready to spend big in the 2026 midterm elections, after uncertainty following his fallout with President Donald Trump last summer. Musk sent his new donation to the pro-Nate Morris Fight for Kentucky super PAC last week, according to Axios. The donation reportedly followed a conversation between the two, where Musk was charmed by Morris’s pro-business and anti-establishment message.
Musk has privately expressed his desire to contribute more to Republicans in 2026, the outlet reported. His Morris donation marks his largest ever contribution to a Senate campaign.
Within hours of the announcement, Morris effectively confirmed the development by reposting praise for the news on X, including from Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet. The latter pointed out that Morris was one of the late Charlie Kirk’s last endorsements.
Morris “was one of Charlie’s last endorsements. He’s fighting the McConnell Machine, and he needs our help to defeat it,” Kolvet wrote. “If we want the Senate to change, we need better senators. Ground Zero is Kentucky.”
The Washington Examiner reached out to Morris’s campaign for comment.
While Trump has not yet made an endorsement in the race, Musk’s donation and his rising national profile make him likely to snag it.
Morris’s campaign website portrays him as the antithesis of the man he’s looking to succeed, saying he “led the charge against McConnell.”
“Nate Morris is a pro-Trump businessman and conservative outsider who is sick and tired of the failed career politicians in both parties that have sold out American workers and families,” the website says. “Nate is running for the Senate in Kentucky to ensure we don’t have another Mitch McConnell puppet sabotaging the Trump agenda. He believes that it’s time for Kentucky to break free from the chains of Mitch and his RINO cronies.”

His highlighted stances are heavily Trumpian, focusing on ending illegal immigration, voicing support for the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda, and election integrity.
Morris announced his Senate run on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast, and counts Vice President JD Vance as a personal friend, according to the outlet.
