Former Vice President Kamala Harris spoke out against the killing of Renee Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in Chicago.
Harris, who pundits believe is mulling another bid for the presidency in 2028, repeatedly told the crowd that Americans are “sick and tired” while she spoke against the policies of the Trump administration. While in the Midwest, Harris spoke about Good’s death at the hands of an ICE officer, who she struck with her SUV while refusing to comply with orders, a killing that sparked further anti-ICE protests in Minnesota and across the United States
“When families are separated, and a mother of three is shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, people are sick and tired of being sick and tired,” Harris said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Harris chose Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), who is in the throes of a political battle with the Trump administration over the shooting and welfare fraud in the state, as her running mate in her 2024 campaign for the White House. Harris first shared her thoughts on the shooting on X the day it occurred, calling it a “shocking incident.”
“Governor Walz has announced the state will ensure a fair investigation, and I am grateful for his swift action. Many of us have seen the horrifying and painful video, which makes it clear that the Trump administration’s explanation of this shooting is pure gaslighting. A full and fair investigation at the state level is absolutely necessary,” Harris wrote.

She tied her message of Americans being “sick and tired” to Chicago, a city where leaders have fought to keep ICE and other federal law enforcement out.
“I know the people of Chicago well. You uniquely understand that the fight requires courage. It requires stamina. And it requires commitment. It requires us to show up even when we are sick and tired, because we are sick and tired,” Harris said.
