Protests around the world formed against the United States’s operation in Venezuela.
Operation Absolute Resolve started and ended Saturday when the Army’s Delta Force invaded Caracas, Venezuela, and captured former Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The city also suffered seven missile strikes, which resulted in the deaths of 80 Venezuelans.
The Associated Press reported that at least 24 members of Maduro’s security team were also killed. These members were all Cuban, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
By Wednesday, #BringThemBack was trending online in both English and Spanish. Murals popped up around Venezuela with the slogan. Some murals also included the phrase “nosotros veneceremos,” which means “we will win” in Spanish. Social media posts referred to Maduro and Flores as “prisoners of war.”

Outside of Venezuela, signs that read “Hands off Venezuela,” the same slogan used in protests based in the U.S., were all over Rome, Italy. These signs, translated in Italian, included a hand with a stars-and-stripes sleeve to represent the U.S.
In the Philippines, protesters demonstrated outside of the U.S. embassy in Manila on Monday. Their signs read, “Stop the war on Venezuela,” and, “No to imperialist aggression.”
Another sign read “U.S. troops out now,” but the Delta Force operatives left Venezuela within two hours of arriving in the nation’s capital.
More protesters gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, under signs that bore the “Hands off” slogan. Other signs called President Donald Trump a war criminal.
Meanwhile, Maduro and Flores are facing narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine-importation conspiracy, and weapons charges. Both pleaded not guilty in the Southern District of New York on Monday.
Anti*Capitalist Resistance and the Fourth International reported over two thousand protesters at Downing Street in London, England, on Monday. This was the second protest in London since the operation. Additional protests occurred in Glasgow, Cardiff, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Bristol, and Brighton.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported that the U.S. has a quarantine on Venezuela’s oil while the Trump administration is “running policy.”

“It is running this policy, and the goal of the policy is to see changes in Venezuela that are beneficial to the United States, first and foremost, because that’s who we work for, but also we believe beneficial for the people of Venezuela who have suffered tremendously,” Rubio said on NBC News’s Meet the Press on Sunday.
In the meantime, Venezuelan authorities will provide between 30 million and 50 million barrels of oil to the U.S., Trump announced Tuesday evening.
