Joe Concha dismisses negative analysis ‘slop’ of Trump’s speech

Washington Examiner senior writer Joe Concha said the analysis of President Donald Trump’s speech from TV news personalities seemed “predetermined” and “prewritten” to be negative.

Concha appeared on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First on Thursday, the day after Trump addressed the nation. In the hours after Trump’s live speech, a slew of commentary came from MS Now, CNN, and other news outlets, which Concha said was “always going to be negative.”

“It’s Groundhog Day again. I mean, the analysis that we see with any major address made by President Trump almost seems to be predetermined, prewritten. It’s always going to be negative,” Concha said.

“And now in this case, that he looks nervous? Donald Trump has done more public speaking than any human in history. And now suddenly, after thousands upon thousands of moments of speaking to a camera, we’re being told that he looks scared?” he continued.

“It is unbelievable that these people get paid good money to provide this slop on national television, but here we are. Go figure,” Concha said.

In his speech, Trump promised 1.45 million American service members that they would receive a “warrior dividend” worth $1,776 before Christmas. The president also dismissed the Democratic Party’s messaging about affordability, a matter he said started under the previous administration.

“When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say in the history of our country, which caused prices to be higher than ever before, making life unaffordable for millions and millions of Americans,” Trump said. “This happened during a Democrat administration, and it’s when we first began hearing the word affordability.”

Currently, Republicans hold the majority in the Senate and the House, but that could change in the 2026 midterm election.
