The release of the trailer for the documentary Melania on Wednesday was met with excitement from friends of the Trump family.
First lady Melania Trump shared the trailer on X, and it received over 1.6 million views in the first three hours. The documentary captures roughly the last three weeks before President Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration at the beginning of this year. This film will be exclusively released in theaters on Jan. 30, 2026.
In the preview, Melania Trump is seen speaking to Secret Service Director Sean Curran, where she asks, “Is it safe?”
“It is safe,” Curran responds.
Other clips capture the design of her Inauguration Ball dress and the moments before she stepped onstage for the inauguration.
“History is set in motion during the 20 days of my life prior to the U.S. Presidential inauguration,” the first lady said in a statement. “For the first time, global audiences are invited into theaters to witness this pivotal chapter unfold-a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my remarkable journey to becoming First Lady of the United States of America.”
This trailer prompted positive responses from some in the Republican Party, including White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“I am so excited for this!” Leavitt wrote on X Wednesday.
“This is going to be incredible!” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) wrote on X.
“Beyond excited!” former New York Rep. George Santos wrote on X.
Santos is among the most recent recipients of a presidential pardon. When Santos pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft last year, he was ordered to pay $373,749 in restitution and a forfeiture payment of $205,002, in addition to serving a seven-year prison sentence. However, because the president commuted his sentence, he is no longer mandated to do so. According to Santos, 84% of that restitution was intended for the Republican National Committee.
MELANIA TRUMP LAUNCHES NEW PRODUCTION COMPANY WITH FIRST FILM RELEASE IN JANUARY
Trump and Fernando Sulichin were the executive producers of the film, and Brett Ratner directed it. Ratner has faced sexual harassment accusations but has denied them. Ratner’s latest credit was as a producer of Georgetown, a political drama set in Washington, D.C.
Trump launched her own production company, Muse Films, to produce the documentary.
