Brett Cooper warns efforts to ‘censor’ Nick Fuentes will only prompt more interest

.

Podcaster Brett Cooper predicted censorship efforts against white nationalist Nick Fuentes will result in Gen Z “to go look for that content.”

Fuentes hosts his own talk show and has organized America First Political Action Conferences since 2020. Fuentes has since gained popularity thanks to his recent appearance on the Tucker Carlson Show, which prompted backlash.

Cooper appeared on NPR’s Morning Edition on Wednesday to answer “what to do about Nick Fuentes,” as she is also a political influencer. Earlier this year, Cooper became a Fox News contributor shortly after she left the Daily Wire.

“I think at the end of the day, my issue is with free speech,” Cooper said. “I think that for Gen Z, what people on both sides of the political aisle need to realize is the more that you tell my generation not to watch something, not to look into something, not to listen to something, that something is bad or censor somebody, we’re going to go look for that content because we’re interested.”

NPR host Steve Inskeep followed up on his question, quoting Fuentes’s antisemitic comments to ask if Cooper agrees with the comments.

“You know, I don’t agree with Nick Fuentes on everything. I don’t agree with anybody on everything,” Cooper said. “I think that what especially older generations need to learn about Nick Fuentes is that he says it himself. He is an edge lord. He says things that are intentionally inflammatory.”

NICK FUENTES IS A PORTENT OF WHERE CONSERVATISM IS HEADING

Fuentes’ followers are known individually as a “groyper.” Cooper suggested that these groypers came to follow Fuentes “because so many people have said not to listen to him.” However, she also implied that he gained viewers to his show “because he’s become a meme” and has a sense of humor.

Meanwhile, Cooper boasts over 1.6 million subscribers to her YouTube channel since she began posting in January.
