Joe Concha praises Halle Berry for ‘guts’ to criticize Gavin Newsom

Washington Examiner senior writer Joe Concha praised actress Halle Berry for saying Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) “probably should not be our next president.”

Berry and Newsom were at a New York Times summit on Wednesday when Berry condemned the governor for vetoing her menopause bill in California twice.

“[Newsom] overlooked women, devaluing us in midlife. He probably should not be our next president either. Just saying,” Berry said, drawing gasps from the crowd.

Concha noted that Hollywood has long adored Democratic politicians.

“All that love that we saw for Kamala Harris in 2024 by Hollywood, well, now that’s going to Newsom,” he said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First on Thursday.

“Halle Berry showed some guts doing that there when Gavin Newsom was obviously the big star. I guess she won’t be invited back on Jimmy Kimmel anytime soon,” Concha continued.

“To Halle Berry’s point, there are many things you can look at from Gavin Newsom’s record in terms of should he be president of the United States if he runs California the way he wants to run the country,” he added. “Not everybody loves Gavin Newsom, despite the fact he looks like he could be in a movie right now, right out of a Hollywood script.”

NEWSOM CONTINUES TO SPEND CALIFORNIA INTO A BUDGET HOLE

Newsom is in his final year as governor. During his tenure, he received two recall attempts. He has yet to announce a 2028 presidential candidacy bid.

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) accompanied Newsom through some of the governor’s travels in South Carolina earlier this year. At one point, he introduced Newsom as one of “these candidates that are running for president,” gesturing to Newsom before catching himself.
