Elon Musk shares image of unusual bedside table setup

Twitter CEO Elon Musk gave a glimpse into his bedroom as he shared an image of his unconventional bedside table setup.
Situated on the world’s richest man’s bedside table are four cans of caffeine-free Diet Coke cans, a mostly empty bottle of water, a painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River, a lamp, an antique pistol, a three-set book collection, a Buddhist vajra, and a model Diamondback revolver from the 2011 video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
The image quickly went viral, with many praising or finding humor in the setup, while others were disturbed by the presence of the weapon replicas.

“There is no excuse for my lack of coasters,” Musk added, with several rings from the Diet Coke cans visible on the table.

The Buddhist amulet is a vajra, a five-pronged ritual object extensively used in Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies.
“Vajra, in Sanskrit, has both the meanings of “thunderbolt” and “diamond.” Like the thunderbolt, the vajra cleaves through ignorance,” the Encyclopedia Britannica writes of the object. “The vajra is fashioned out of brass or bronze, the four prongs at each end curving around the central fifth to form a lotus-bud shape. A nine-pronged vajra is less commonly used.”
The three-book set in the background, as pointed out by the New York Post, appears to contain the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and George Washington’s Rules of Civility and Decent Behaviour in Company and Conversation, published by Applewood Books.
The two guns drew the most attention from observers, with some believing it may reflect the tech mogul’s pro-Second Amendment views. However, both guns are non-firing; the futuristic-looking revolver is a model from a video game set, while the antique pistol is a non-firing flintlock replica of the one Washington carried with him throughout the Revolutionary War.
Nevertheless, many left-wing figures expressed outrage over the image, believing that Musk was encouraging unsafe firearm practices.
“As a survivor and now Trauma Surgeon, I can tell you @elonmusk that the safest way to store your firearm is Unloaded and Locked,” gun control activist Joseph Sakran tweeted. “This is critical to practicing responsible gun ownership. I suspect that if you spent a day with me in our trauma center, your views may change.”
