House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is holding a press conference on Friday afternoon as the government shutdown continues on its third day.
Democrats and Republicans are trading blame for the onset of the shutdown, which took effect on Wednesday after Senate Democrats rejected House Republicans’ continuing resolution to fund the government through Nov. 21. No agreement has been reached.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for letting the shutdown commence. Trump has mocked both Democrats by posting videos of them wearing sombreros.
Jeffries is expected to discuss the shutdown and its fallout during the press conference scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Friday.
