Multiple people shot at Denver-area high school

At least two students were shot at Evergreen High School near Denver.

The local Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the news in a post on X.

“JCSO confirming a shooting at Evergreen High School. At least two students have been shot and are enroute to the hospital. Media staging at Evergreen Lake. Stay tuned for more,” the office wrote on X.

The school is 28 miles southwest of Denver and has been placed on lockdown.

Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) said the situation is still evolving.

“I am closely monitoring the situation at Evergreen High School, and am getting live updates. State Troopers are supporting local law enforcement in responding to this situation. Students should be able to attend school safely and without fear across our state and nation. We are all praying for the victims and the entire community,” he said in a statement.

Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) said his office is closely monitoring the situation. Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) said she is “shocked & heartbroken” to hear about an “active assailant” at the school.

CHARLIE KIRK SHOT AT UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY EVENT

The status of the shooter is unclear.

Earlier in the afternoon, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot at a university event in Utah.
