Wisconsin Democrats use Taylor Swift’s engagement as fundraising opportunity

.

Wisconsin Democrats harped on the engagement of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to fundraise ahead of the 2026 election.

The Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee sent an email shortly after the couple announced the engagement, declaring that “TAYLOR SWIFT AND TRAVIS KELCE ARE ENGAGED!!!” and asking supporters to donate in the name of the engagement.

“In a time we are being bombarded with negative news, we welcome this moment of celebration. You know what will make this day even better?” the email said, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“If we got a step closer to FLIPPING the Wisconsin State Senate blue for the first time in a decade. Will you join us in celebrating this moment by rushing $20.26 today and help Taylor’s party win next November?” the email continued.

The email additionally misquoted one of Swift’s songs, “Long Live” from her album Speak Now. It said, “Long live the walls we crash through,” instead of “long live the walls we crashed through.”

Wisconsin Senate Democrats are looking to flip the state legislature’s upper chamber after a new voting map was signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers (D-WI) last year.

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on Tuesday via Instagram. The social media post garnered more than 30 million likes since it was posted.

Swift has a long history of supporting Democratic politicians. A Tennessee resident, she was heavily critical of now-Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) in the 2018 Tennessee Senate race. Her political activism in that race was featured in the 2020 documentary on her career, Miss Americana.

She endorsed former President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election and former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
