Democrats are ‘never going to win’ nationally if Mamdani prevails: Joe Concha

.

Washington Examiner Senior Writer Joe Concha predicts that a win for Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral race will spell disaster for the Democratic Party nationally.

“As it stands now, Zohran Mamdani will be the next mayor of New York. Every poll that we’re seeing here shows him up by 15 to 20 points,” Concha said on Fox News’s Fox Report Weekend Saturday.

“The bad news is that Mamdani, along with [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)], along with [Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)], [Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX)], [Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)], they are now the faces of the Democratic Party, and that ain’t good,” Concha said.

“Because they represent the very far left of the party. They represent socialism, and in Mamdani’s case, communism and antisemitism. So unless Democrats move to the center and start to embrace some basic, common-sense positions, they’re never going to win a national election.”

According to a Saturday filing from the New York City Campaign Finance Board, Mamdani raised $1,051,200 from July 12 to Aug. 18, with an average donation of $121. This was more than what former Gov. Andrew Cuomo raised after losing to Mamdani in the Democratic primary.

During the same five-week period, Cuomo, now running as an independent, raised $507,660, while transferring an additional $68,225 from a separate state campaign account. Meanwhile, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams’s total for the period came in below both of them at $420,886, but with an average donation of $723. Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa raised $407,332.

Concha noted the declining approval rating among Democratic politicians nationwide.

“All I know is that Quinnipiac right now, [Fox Report Weekend host Jon Scott], shows that the Democratic Party overall, Congress people in the Democratic Party, are polling at 19% approval. That is the lowest in history,” Concha said.

“And if we think that this guy is a solution, I’m sorry. Again, this is not the way you want to go if you’re a Democrat. You want to pivot to the center, not go to the far, far left, and that’s exactly what Zohran Mamdani represents.”

AOC, CROCKETT, AND MAMDANI: THE SCARY FUTURE OF THE DEMOCRATS IS NOW

Mamdani has maintained his campaign’s virality by hosting a scavenger hunt across New York City that ended in a photo opportunity with the candidate himself.

Adams and Mamdani are fresh from the Brooklyn Men’s Day event, where both candidates participated in a bench press of 135 pounds.
