Tour bus crash involving tractor trailer closes New York highway

A tour bus crash in Genesee County, New York, closed down a highway on Friday.

New York State Police confirmed the incident in a post on X, warning that all lanes on I-90 in Pembroke were closed and that drivers should seek alternative routes.

All four available mercy flights were requested, with multiple victims stuck in or under the crashed tour bus, according to the Genesee County Fire Wire. Preliminary reports said the tour bus rolled over, ejecting or trapping multiple passengers. Up to 52 victims were reported, but not yet confirmed, with medical units from surrounding counties responding to the crisis.

The crash also involved a semitruck. It occurred on Interstate 90 West.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment.
