Cracker Barrel faces backlash over modernized logo despite CEO’s spin

.

Social media users are not receiving Cracker Barrel’s new design warmly, even though the chain’s CEO said Tuesday that the feedback is “overwhelmingly positive.”

The new logo ditches the iconic man in a rocking chair leaning on a barrel, instead just featuring the name “Cracker Barrel” on an orange hexagon, vaguely resembling a barrel. A press release from the chain states its new logo is “rooted even more closely” to its iconic barrel shape and name.

Many users on X, however, didn’t hold the same sentiment.

“WTF is wrong with @CrackerBarrel?” Donald Trump Jr. said on X.

“Have you guys learned nothing of the past several years LOL,” one user on X said.

“No cracker, no barrel,” another user said on X, posting a meme parodying the TV show Mad Men.

Cracker Barrel is also giving its interior restaurants a makeover, trading the darker lighting of its seating room for brighter, white walls. Several users on TikTok have posted footage of the new designs to criticize them.

Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan asked Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Masino on Tuesday if she would consider returning to the old designs if her customers complained “hard enough.” Masino dismissed the negative comments, saying the feedback had been “overwhelmingly positive.”

“I actually happened to be in Orlando last week with all of our managers. We bring them together once every other year, and the No. 1 question that I got asked, Michael, was, ‘How can I get a remodel, when can I get a remodel, how do I get on the list?’” Masino said.

Robby Starbuck, a Republican activist and avid crusader against diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives among businesses, posted on X, saying Cracker Barrel was a sponsor for Nashville Pride, a nonprofit organization that celebrates an annual LGBT festival in Nashville, Tennessee.
