Virginia man dies after jumping from balcony while FBI attempted to serve arrest warrant

A man died after jumping from a 15th-floor balcony in Alexandria, Virginia, as the FBI was attempting to serve him an arrest warrant.

Federal investigators from the FBI’s Washington Field Office arrived at the apartment around 6 a.m. The man then went out of the window onto the balcony when he jumped.

Authorities attempted to resuscitate the person but were unsuccessful. Officials have not given further information about the person’s identity or what charges he was facing.

“We are grateful to our partners at the Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Fire Department for their immediate response and assistance,” an FBI spokesperson said.

Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire noted there is no threat to the community.

The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is responsible for determining the cause of death.
