President Donald Trump will visit the Federal Reserve on Thursday afternoon as he pressures Fed chairman Jerome Powell to lower interest rates and scrutinizes the central bank over a $2.5 billion renovation.
Trump has called on Powell to resign over his refusal to lower rates. The administration is currently considering candidates to replace the Fed chairman. Powell’s term ends in May 2026.
After departing the White House, Trump is scheduled to arrive for the tour at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Administration officials were previously scheduled to inspect the Fed’s headquarters regarding its pricey renovation project, which ran at least $700 million over budget. The White House announced late Wednesday that the president would also join the inspection team.
The administration officials expected to attend are Office of Management and Budget Director Russel Vought, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, OMB general counsel Mark Paoletta, and others.
