Graham likens chances of DC grand jury indicting Obama to ‘me being in the NBA’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) believes it is unlikely former President Barack Obama will be indicted by a grand jury for his administration’s alleged role in ignoring intelligence pointing to Russia not being involved in the 2016 election.

Graham compared the chance of Obama, ex-CIA Director John Brennan, or former FBI Director James Comey being indicted to him “being in the NBA.”

“When you show these documents to a DC grand jury, and we know all about DC grand juries, what do you think the chances are of an indictment coming for Brennan, Comey, Barack Obama, or any of these guys?” Fox News host Jesse Watters asked Graham.

“Probably like me being in the NBA,” Graham responded.

The senator continued, saying he agreed that the three men should be investigated for possibly ignoring the intelligence assessment.

“The documents that Gabbard released show that President Obama basically ordered his people to go look again and get a different result,” he said. “And this begins to explain how crooked the Mueller investigation was because the same people that he was talking to to do another intelligent assessment are the same people that cooked up the warrant stuff, you know, the Clinton campaign. So, yeah, we need to look at this. This is a big deal.”

Trump suggested Obama should be prosecuted on Tuesday after weeks of intense media scrutiny over the president’s relationship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

“Whether it’s right or wrong, it’s time to go after people,” Trump said, mentioning a report published by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence on Friday alleging the Obama White House sought to tie Trump’s 2016 campaign to Russia after intelligence community assessments suggested that Russia wasn’t directly meddling in the election.

“Based on what I read, and I read pretty much what you read, it would be President Obama. He started it, and Biden was there with him, and Comey was there, and Clapper. The whole group was there,” he told reporters. “This was treason. This was every word you can think of. They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever even imagined.”

The statute of limitations likely limits the Trump administration’s ability to prosecute Obama or his administration’s officials for their alleged actions during the 2016 election.

OBAMA FIRES BACK AGAINST TRUMP’S ‘OUTRAGEOUS’ TREASON CLAIMS

Patrick Rodenbush, an Obama spokesman, slammed Trump’s claims as a “ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.”

“Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response. But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one,” he said in a statement. “Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes. These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.”
