DeSantis puts Cuomo on alert about moving to Florida: ‘Don’t New York our Florida’

.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) indicated former New York governor and current New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo is not welcome in the Sunshine State, issuing a statement regarding the possibility on X.

Cuomo lost the Democratic Party’s mayoral primary for New York City last month to socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani, though he is remaining in the race as an independent. The former governor indicated Saturday he would leave New York behind for Florida if Mamdani wins the general election, though Cuomo’s campaign claimed he was only joking.

“Don’t New York our Florida!” DeSantis said on X in response to Cuomo.

It’s not the first time the Florida governor has poked fun at the New York City election, as he predicted his state would receive an influx of new arrivals leaving the Big Apple if Mamdani wins.

CAN TRUMP ‘RUN’ NEW YORK IF MAMDANI WINS THE MAYORAL RACE?

The governor has also joked that Mamdani makes former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio “look like Ronald Reagan,” offering criticism of Mamdani’s various policies as “the most radical Left that I have ever seen” from a candidate in a major jurisdiction.

Besides Cuomo and Mamdani, this November’s New York City mayoral election will see Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa running along with sitting Mayor Eric Adams seeking reelection as an independent. Both Sliwa and Adams have been critical of Cuomo, with Sliwa saying Cuomo has helped turn New York City over to the socialists.”
