Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) lamented on Monday the “colossal waste of time and effort” that went into investigating the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Attorney General Pam Bondi teased releasing the list of Epstein’s clients. However, neither her office nor the FBI has released it as promised.
Lawler appeared on CNN News Central on Monday to dismiss the ordeal. The New York lawmaker advocated charging anyone involved with Epstein.
“In the absence of that, frankly, this seems like a colossal waste of time and effort, and frankly, a lot of nonsense,” Lawler said.
“There are a lot of issues facing this country right now. A dead pedophile ain’t one of them. And from my vantage point, you know, the world is a lot better off with Jeffrey Epstein no longer part of it,” he said.
A month after President Donald Trump reentered office, influencers arrived at the White House to receive binders titled, “The Epstein Files: Phase I.” Subsequent phases have yet to be released, and the Department of Justice and FBI reported this month that there never was a client list.

Lawler was echoing Trump’s most recent comments on the matter. During a press conference last week, the president was asked about Epstein, but he avoided the question.
“Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday at the White House before a Cabinet meeting. “Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable.”
