The intelligence chief and his deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been killed after an Israeli strike, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.
In an interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier, Netanyahu revealed the deaths of Brig. Gen. Mohammad Kazemi, the Guard’s intelligence chief, and Gen. Hassan Mohaqiq, his deputy.
“Moments ago, I can tell you we got their chief intelligence officer and his deputy in Tehran,” the Israeli prime minister said.
The two high-level Iranian officials were killed in Israeli strikes on central Tehran that targeted air defense systems, military sites tied to the Guard, and ballistic missile sites.
Kazemi and Mohaqiq’s deaths come after Israel decimated the Guard’s top brass in the first day of their military operation dubbed “Rising Lion.”
In those late-night strikes last week, Gen. Hossein Salami, the Guard’s chief commander, and senior Guard commander Gholamali Rashid were killed, along with the Guard’s entire air force command and many nuclear scientists.

Netanyahu suggested on Fox News Sunday that the targeted strikes against Iranian leadership figures means “regime change” could be one of the goals of his country’s military campaign.
“It could certainly be the result. Because the Iran regime is very weak,” he said.
