Democratic Govs. JB Pritzker of Illinois, Tim Walz of Minnesota and Kathy Hochul of New York will testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on sanctuary policies in their states.
There is currently no legal definition for sanctuary policies, but cities or states with these declarations generally limit obligations for local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration officers. These laws have previously been upheld in court.
The Trump administration, however, has sued Colorado, Illinois, New York as well as several cities claiming these policies violate the Constitution.
