Soros-funded PAC gears up in Texas ahead of midterms with new initiative

.

A super PAC tied to left-wing billionaire George Soros launched a Texas initiative Monday designed to spur Democratic gains in the Republican-dominated Lone Star state during the 2026 midterm elections.

The Soros-funded Texas Majority PAC unveiled the “Blue Texas” blueprint alongside the Texas Democratic Party in a multimillion-dollar bid to organize thousands of volunteers, recruit candidates, and boost voter turnout ahead of 2026, according to the Wall Street Journal

“If a win is on the table in 2026, we don’t want to leave it there by not being organized,” said Katherine Fischer, the deputy executive director of Texas Majority PAC.

Texas Majority PAC is run by an alumnus of Democrat Beto O’Rourke’s campaign, who narrowly lost a bid to knock Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) out of office in 2018.

The billionaire Soros family, which is viewed with deep suspicion by Republicans, has poured millions into Texas Majority PAC.

Critics have accused the Soros family of wielding undue political influence across the country, bleeding hundreds of millions in dark money to leftist groups to enact progressive prosecutors, control radio networks, and manipulate media narratives in favor of Democrats.

Democrats have long attempted and failed to oust Texas Republicans such as Cruz using funds from Soros and his son, Alex, to help such endeavors. In recent years, Alex Soros has formed close ties with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) amid efforts to spur critical Democratic victories in key states like Texas.

“Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are spending millions unloading on us … they’re going to spend over $100 million from Chuck Schumer and George Soros,” Cruz said on Fox News’s Life Liberty and Levin in October 2024 as he fought to fend off a challenge from Texas Democrat Colin Allred. “Every day or two, we get another story. Schumer put another $3 million. Schumer put another $5 million in. We’ve just got money flowing into this.”

During the 2024 elections, Texas Majority PAC spent $1.6 million in attempts to boost Democrats in  Bexar County, helping some Democratic-aligned voter turnout groups swell volunteer rates by as much as 30%. The PAC also invested more than $600,000 in Cameron County and $700,000 in Hidalgo County in a bid to slow Trump’s momentum and spur Democratic performance.
