Latinas for Trump co-founder decries administration’s deportation strategy: ‘Unacceptable and inhumane’

.

Florida Republican state Rep. Ileana Garcia, co-founder of Latinas for Trump, has called the Trump administration’s methods for arresting and deporting illegal immigrants “unacceptable and inhumane.”

Garcia’s criticism of the Trump administration comes amid reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are conducting raids outside immigration courts.

“This is not what we voted for,” Garcia wrote on X. “I have always supported Trump, @realDonaldTrump, through thick and thin. However, this is unacceptable and inhumane.”

Garcia lambasted Trump’s national security adviser, Stephen Miller, for being the driving force behind deporting migrants who possess “credible fear of persecution claims.”

“I understand the importance of deporting criminal aliens, but what we are witnessing are arbitrary measures to hunt down people who are complying with their immigration hearings—in many cases, with credible fear of persecution claims—all driven by a Miller-like desire to satisfy a self-fabricated deportation goal,” Garcia posted. “This undermines the sense of fairness and justice that the American people value.”

Last week, Miller held a meeting in which he criticized senior Department of Homeland Security and ICE officials for low arrest and deportation numbers.

Garcia’s tweets follow criticism from Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) against the Trump administration for seeking to arrest and deport active asylum-seekers.

“It is an indisputable fact that the vast majority of these individuals fled Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, the three most brutal regimes in our hemisphere and sworn enemies of the United States,” Garcia wrote. “ I wholeheartedly agree that the administration must kick out every criminal here illegally, just as President Trump promised. Many still remain, and we should keep our focus on them.”

White House spokeswoman Abigail Johnson shared with the Washington Examiner that illegal immigrants who are deported have faced due process.

“Any illegal alien who is deported from the United States receives due process, and if they have pending asylum claims they are adjudicated by USCIS prior to any removal,” Johnson said in a statement. “President Trump was the first Republican Presidential candidate in nearly 40 years to win Miami-Dade county, and polling ahead of the election showed massive support among Hispanic voters for deportations. President Trump is fulfilling his promise to deport illegal aliens and the American people are grateful.”
