A 23-year-old man tried to sneak into President Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago home with the intention of marrying his 18-year-old granddaughter, Kai, according to police.
He also wanted to talk to Trump to “spread the gospel.”
The Secret Service detained Anthony Thomas Reyes after he “jumped over a wall to get into the property” near midnight on Tuesday. The Palm Beach Police Department then arrested Reyes, who was given a warning on New Year’s after trying to enter Trump’s Florida home illegally.
Trump was not present at the time of the intrusion.
“An adult male was arrested early Tuesday morning by the Palm Beach Police Department for unlawfully entering the Mar-a-Lago Club property in Florida,” a Secret Service spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.
“Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms. U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene,” they added. “Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing. We appreciate the continued partnership and swift response of the Palm Beach Police Department. No Secret Service protectees were present at the time of this incident.”
Reyes was arrested on trespassing charges and given a $1,000 bond, but his bond has since been upgraded to $50,000. He could be federally charged.
Kai Trump is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his first wife, Vanessa Trump.

During a court appearance on Tuesday, Reyes pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Judge Daliah Weiss ordered him to have no contact with the president, Kai Trump, or any Trump family members. He was also ordered not to go to any Trump properties or have contact with witnesses of the incident, along with an order that he cannot have weapons or firearms.
