Chris Murphy launches national PAC to fund anti-Trump organizers: Report

.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) launched a new PAC with the intent of taking on President Donald Trump and his GOP allies in Congress.

The American Mobilization Project will give $400,000 to organizations that oppose cuts to Medicaid and register young people to vote, according to a Politico report on Monday. The PAC is expected to spend over $2 million in the 2026 midterm election cycle.

“All of us have to realize that if we don’t act aggressively right now to organize and mobilize, we may not have our democracy in 2026,” Murphy said. “I’m a believer that the only thing that is ultimately going to stop Trump’s corruption and his destruction of democracy is mass mobilization.”

Murphy has emerged as a leading Democratic voice since Trump entered office in January. He has denied that his recent moves are laying the road map for a 2028 presidential bid and argued that there may not be a 2028 election.

“I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion there’s going to be an election in 2026 or 2028 for anybody to run in if we don’t do the work right now,” he said, adding, “I hope that this PAC is going to act very differently than everybody else’s PAC because it’s not about banking money or using money for a political campaign or for other people’s political campaigns. It’s about mobilization.”

The first recipients from his PAC will be organizations in the swing states of Georgia and Pennsylvania: Georgia Youth Justice and Project 26 Pennsylvania. The PAC will also back the Committee to Protect Health Care’s efforts to organize doctors and nurses to support Medicaid in Louisiana, Michigan, and Utah.
