FBI Director Kash Patel said his department is investigating a “targeted terror attack” in Boulder, Colorado, after a suspect reportedly attacked people who were participating in a walk to remember the Israeli hostages still in Gaza.
“We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available,” Patel posted on X.
At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Colorado police responded to an attack at Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, where the group Run for Their Lives was holding a “peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.”
Witnesses told CBS Colorado that the suspect attacked the walk participants with Molotov cocktails. An organizer for Run for Their Lives said five people were burned in the attack. The suspect has been taken into custody, Colorado police said.
Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) condemned the attack in a post on X.
“I am closely monitoring the situation in Boulder, and my thoughts go out to the people who have been injured and impacted by this heinous act of terror. Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable. While details emerge, the state works with local and federal law enforcement to support this investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available,” Polis said.
