Trump, like Reagan, ‘uses words so very, very well’: Keith Kellogg

.

White House special envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg compared the peace efforts of President Donald Trump to that of former President Ronald Reagan, citing how both presidents assured the public that they “had America’s back.”

While appearing on Fox News’s My View with Lara Trump, the retired lieutenant general argued that it is currently a good time for anyone thinking about joining the military to do so, as the nation has a “great commander in chief.” Kellogg reflected how his youngest son, who is still serving in the military, has made a similar assessment regarding Trump, saying the president instills confidence in the nation’s troops.

Kellogg explained that the United States’ soldiers fighting in the Revolutionary War wanted to fight for something “greater than themselves,” contending that this “ideal” was key to facing the British army, which at the time was the “best army in the world.”

“If you’re willing to do that, and you’re willing to commit to something greater than yourself, it’s an ideal,” Kellogg stated. “America’s an ideal, and I go back to what Ronald Reagan said, the shining city on a hill. And you got the same feeling that you get with President Trump, which you did with Reagan, that he had America’s back. And he used words, because words are also a weapon, and he uses words so very, very well, President Trump and Reagan did both.”

Kellogg also addressed where things stand with the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, stating that Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin to return the prisoners it has taken, to which Putin was not opposed. Around 30,000 children are among those being held as prisoners.

PETE HEGSETH’S WAR ON THE PENTAGON PRESS CORPS

Last week, Kellogg claimed that Trump is the “only one” who is capable of bringing peace between Ukraine and Russia, which recently hit a speed bump after Russia enacted a large-scale missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. Trump stated he did not know “what the hell happened to Putin” in reaction to Russia’s attack, which occurred as the U.S. and Russia were “in the middle of talking.”

Trump has since stated that he would provide an update on the peace talks “in about two weeks.” He reiterated that he was “very disappointed” with Russia’s recent attack on Ukraine.
