Democrats shielded truth about Biden not to help Trump: Alex Thompson

.

Reporter Alex Thompson argued former President Joe Biden’s mental state was shielded by members of the Democratic Party, adding that the party is now self-reflecting as it seeks to correct course for future elections.

Thompson, with CNN’s Jake Tapper, co-authored the new book Original Sin, which seeks to shine light on the former president’s mental decline while serving in the Oval Office. The reporter contended on Sunday that those in the Biden administration claiming Biden was “sharp” were lying and that the president’s performance at the debate was “a shock to millions of Americans.”

Fox News’s Shannon Bream pressed Thompson if any Cabinet officials have any “remorse” for not speaking up about Biden’s mental state.

“I mean, there’s definitely a lot of self-reflection about what, if anything, they should have done differently,” Thompson said on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream. “I think there was feeling, like a lot of members of the Democratic Party that were seeing this or some moments of him seeming out of it, that going public was not going to change his mind, it was only going to help Donald Trump, and I think that’s how a lot of them rationalized it.”

Last week, Biden was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer. Bream noted how Original Sin indicates there were concerns that Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s doctor, was “too close” to the president, and asked Thompson if this interfered with O’Connor’s ability to assess Biden’s health. Thompson noted that Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel indicated that Biden was likely diagnosed with cancer during his presidency, raising “more questions.”

Amid the publicity of Thompson and Tapper’s book, the latter was pushed by Megyn Kelly over his previous chiding of Lara Trump, in which the current president’s daughter-in-law expressed concern that Biden had a “cognitive decline” in 2020. Kelly contended Tapper was “running cover” for Biden, with the CNN reporter acknowledging that Lara Trump’s comments have “aged well.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha was critical of both Thompson and Tapper, suggesting they were both saving their investigations for the book “instead of reporting it at the time when it mattered.”
