President Donald Trump urged the Senate to quickly pass his legislative agenda after the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” cleared a vote in the House on Thursday morning.
The tax cut-and-border measure will likely be changed when it is considered by the Senate, but Trump heralded it as “arguably the most significant piece of Legislation that will ever be signed in the History of our Country” following its narrow passage in the House.
“The Bill includes MASSIVE Tax CUTS, No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, Tax Deductions when you purchase an American Made Vehicle, along with strong Border Security measures, Pay Raises for our ICE and Border Patrol Agents, Funding for the Golden Dome, ‘TRUMP Savings Accounts’ for newborn babies, and much more,” Trump wrote on social media.
Trump congratulated House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and his leadership team after they wrangled fiscal conservatives and more centrist members of the Republican conference to get behind the bill. That act required a marathon of negotiations, with reforms to Medicaid and a higher state and local tax deduction cap serving as the largest sticking points.
“Thank you to every Republican who voted YES on this Historic Bill,” the president wrote. “Now, it’s time for our friends in the United States Senate to get to work, and send this Bill to my desk AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! There is no time to waste.”
At the same time, Democrats condemned the bill for introducing what they claimed were “the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in American history.”
“The GOP Tax Scam rips healthcare and food assistance away from millions of people in order to provide tax cuts to the wealthy, the well-off and the well-connected,” House Democratic leadership, including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA), and Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA), wrote in a joint statement.
The trio added: “The GOP Tax Scam is deeply unpopular, which is why Republicans made every effort to advance it during the dead of night,” they added. “This fight is just beginning, and House Democrats will continue to use every tool at our disposal to ensure that the GOP Tax Scam is buried deep in the ground, never to rise again.”

Trump dismissed their complaints in his Truth Social post, contending “Democrats have lost control of themselves, and are aimlessly wandering around, showing no confidence, grit, or determination.”
“They have forgotten their landslide loss in the Presidential Election, and are warped in the past, hoping someday to revive Open Borders for the World’s criminals to be able to pour into our Country, men to be able to play in women’s sports, and transgender for everybody,” he wrote. “They don’t realize that these things, and so many more like them, will NEVER AGAIN happen!”
