Ashli Babbitt’s family reaches a settlement for almost $5 million

.

The Trump administration has agreed to pay nearly $5 million to the family of the deceased Jan.6 protester Ashli Babbitt, who was killed by Capitol Police.

The police fatally shot Babbitt after she tried entering the Speaker’s Lobby during the Capitol storming on Jan. 6, 2021.

Federal lawyers indicated in March that they wanted to settle the case, and later reached a settlement in principle this month. Babbitt’s family was originally seeking $30 million in the wrongful death lawsuit.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Justice Department and Judicial Watch, which represents Babbitt’s family, for comment, but did not receive a response.
