The Democratic National Committee is planning to troll President Donald Trump by flying a “Qatar-a-lago” banner near his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, while he is in the Middle East.
Trump is in Qatar on Wednesday after visiting Saudi Arabia and before heading to the United Arab Emirates. However, his trip has been overshadowed by questions surrounding Qatar’s gift of a luxury jet, which will be used as the new Air Force One.
The gift, a Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet worth $400 million, has drawn bipartisan criticism from lawmakers who are saying Qatar will likely expect some form of influence over Trump.
“Donald Trump is using the presidency to personally enrich himself while he bankrupts working families,” DNC chairman Ken Martin said in a statement. “His corruption is a slap in the face to the millions of Americans who are struggling to get by and put food on the table.”
Before leaving Washington, D.C., on Monday, Trump defended Qatar’s gift as “a gesture of good faith.”
“Now, I could be a stupid person, say, ‘Oh no, we don’t want a free plane.’ We give free things out. We’ll take one, too, and it helps us out,” Trump said.

The DNC will fly the “Qatar-a-lago” banner on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.
While in Qatar, Trump and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani announced a deal for Qatar Airways to purchase 160 Boeing jets worth $200 billion.
