The older brother of Pope Leo XIV said Monday that there could be some “bumps” when the new leader of the Catholic Church meets President Donald Trump, but he dismissed the idea that the pope is “woke.”
“If and when he meets with President Trump, I don’t doubt the’ll be some bumps in the discussion and some heated conversation,” Louis Prevost said during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored. “I don’t think either one of them will blow up like we saw with Trump and Zelensky in the White House.”
Pope Leo XIV is not an argumentative man, according to his brother.

“He’s got the ability to explain himself, where he’s coming from clearly and distinctly,” Prevost said. “They may agree to disagree, which is fine.”
While a cardinal, Robert Francis Prevost had an active social media presence that included critiques of the Trump administration and Vice President JD Vance, a Catholic convert.
“The suggestion is that your brother may be a touch on the woke side,” Morgan said. “Can you confirm or deny your little brother is woke?”
“I don’t know that I’d even go that far to say he’s woke,” Louis Prevost replied. “He’s probably much more liberal than I am, but that’s us.”

The new pope served for 20 years in Peru, first as a missionary and then as a bishop, and his time there may have influenced his political ideology, his brother said.
“All the time he spent in Peru, with those people … I know you’ve been around, but when I went down there, my travels in the Navy, the people that he was with in Peru are some of the poorest people I’ve seen anywhere int he world, the way they live,” Louis Prevost said.
